Job Summary:

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Talent Management (Talent Management Lead) is a key leader within the National MS Society (the Society) and, as such, must maintain a broad knowledge of our organization, exemplify our values, contribute positively to our mission, and collaborate in strategic discussions and tactical project teams cross functionally.

The Talent Management Lead (as we informally reference the position) is responsible for leading and contributing to the successful operations of the Talent Management team on behalf of our Mission. Putting the organization first, this leader actively collaborates with the People & Culture (P&C) team and cross functionally with leaders of each function, to design, implement, and evolve "right-sized" HR best practices to enable the organization's strategy and culture goals.

This leader understands and is committed to the development of people at all levels - utilizing coaching, empowerment, and accountability to increase the effectiveness of our entire team, but specifically our leaders. It is critical that this person serves as a knowledgeable and trusted business partner whose credibility is grounded in business acumen, fiscal responsibility, alignment to our Mission, Vision, and Values - combined with the specialty expertise of the HR acumen. Finally, this leader cares about people, and leads the Talent Management function with humility and humanity and hospitality.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic, operational, and tactical HR leadership in partnership with the Chief People & Culture Officer and the People & Culture team for the Society.

  • Lead core employee lifecycle functions, including talent management, employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, internal mobility, workforce planning, recruiting, succession planning, culture, and employee engagement.

  • Leverage, support, and enable function peers who lead Learning & Development, Payroll, Benefits, Org. Health and reporting, compensation, and Total Rewards.

  • Action our commitments to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility by imbedding within all workflows - ensuring that we cultivate a workplace that values and leverages our team.

  • Design and implement strategies for talent acquisition, performance systems, succession planning, and employee development - seeking to improve efficiency through automation and AI enabled tools within every workflow - and leveraging existing Workday HCM platform.

  • In partnership with our Learning & Development Lead, develop and then facilitate performance and talent reviews, onboarding, succession planning, and training & development actions - ensuring leadership is engaged and that optimal outcomes are defined and delivered.

  • In partnership with our People Operations Lead, establish and then track and measure HR analytics to evaluate program effectiveness, org. health, and outcomes.

  • Identify, monitor, and analyze HR metrics to measure trends and progress against strategic goal accomplishment. Use data to make business cases to executive leadership and to identify when changes or modifications to HR programs or projects are necessary.

  • Partner with the Legal & Risk (L&R) team to maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and ensure effective application and organizational compliance.

  • In collaboration with P&C Leads and L&R team ensure relevant policies, programs, and procedures exist to enable our workforce with the tools and resources needed to achieve outcomes.

  • Remain up to date on HR best practices and trends ensuring we incorporate if applicable

  • Address complex employee relations issues and conduct investigations seeking to support a positive, engaging, and compliant work environment.

  • Negotiate and manage complex dispute resolution, handling confidential issues professionally and appropriately in accordance with relevant legislation.

  • When applicable, guide the organization through change management initiatives, advising client group on best practices and supporting change management and implementations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in HR, Business, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or related field

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) preferred with a focus in Business or HR

  • Progressive leadership experience: 15+ years of experience in leadership roles, with a significant portion within Human Resources roles focused on Talent Management

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR business partner experience with deep experience within the employee relations and conflict resolution space

  • Human resources or operations experience gained in the non-profit sector preferred

  • Experience in supporting board relations and specifically developing content to support strategic human capital updates and discussions to advance organizational strategies

  • HR certification (e.g. CHRL, SHRP, PHR, SPHR) preferred

  • Strong communication skills honed through experience in various formats - verbal, written, remote, in person, 1;1, groups of all sizes, formal and informal, et cetera

  • Excellent EQ interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively with people from all backgrounds and at various career stages and with a range of skills, education, and capabilities

  • Strong collaboration skills demonstrated within remote and hybrid teams

  • Capable as facilitator to engage, inspire, and communicate concepts and expectations

  • Initiative to improve business processes and to leverage automation and AI

  • Strong working knowledge and experience leveraging Workday HCM with ability to use base system to enable clean workflows for all stakeholders

  • Ability to analyze data from multiple sources to create a narrative/and tell the story - trends, successes opportunities

  • Microsoft office suite: Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams

Location Requirements

  • Remote - Flexible Location

  • Willingness and ability to travel 20% or more for internal planning sessions, regional meetings, and organizational events

  • Work is primarily performed remotely, however, when possible and necessary, teams meet in person to conduct the business of the organization and build team relationships.

Compensation | Benefits:

The estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $160,000-$210,000. Final offers will be based on the candidate'sgeographic location, consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.
