Wage Scale Deadline to Apply: August 12, 2025 Position Summary
The Trainee is an entry level skilled craft position with a line of progression (LOP). Steps through the line of progression will require successful completion of training and on the job proficiency demonstrations. Trainees must be able to pull Call Duty, work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, be available for storm restoration and deploy out of town on mutual assistances with CPS Energy Crews for up to 2 weeks when events occur: Trainee Areas: Distribution Overhead (OH) - Construction & maintenance of overhead electric distribution infrastructure - primary & secondary line work (poles, transformers, electric conductors, electric meters). Overhead trainee may progress to All Equipment Operator, for Pole Crews or may progress to Apprentice, Journeyman, Foreman and Overhead goes up in bucket or climb poles when you progress to Apprentice & Journeyman. Distribution Underground and Downtown Network (UIO) - Underground - Construction & maintenance of underground electric distribution infrastructure; Downtown Network - Will work in confined space (manholes and vaults). As a Trainee you will go through a pole climbing training. Also, will go up in bucket or climb poles when you progress to Apprentice & Journeyman. UIO Craft Trainee progress to Apprentice, Journeyman, Foreman. Substation - Construction and maintenance of the high voltage infrastructure utilized to bring the electricity from Generation (power plants) to Transmission (higher voltage) to Substations (step down voltage). Substation Trainee Employees will start as an Electrician Trainee in Substation Construction and will rotate through the various Substation areas as they learn the needed skills to construct and maintain high voltage substation equipment. Trainee will work in proximity to voltages ranging from 345kV to 120V. The Trainee will progress to positions of Apprentice Electrician, Substation Electrician, and Electrician Foreman through line of progression. *Department placement will be based on business needs for approved vacancies* Tasks and Responsibilities
Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Must pass Reading, Mechanical and Math assessment testing.
Experience working outdoors in a construction environment or comparable field.
Basic mathematics and measurements skills.
Ability to work in confined spaces such as manholes and vaults.
Ability to use hand tools.
Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions.
Ability to read design sketches.
Ability to read and understand equipment manuals.
Ability to understand load charts for safe crane operations.
Ability to understand safety and company policies.
A valid Texas driver's license with a history of safe driving record in accordance with CPS Energy policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable laws and regulations.
Ability to drive various sizes of company vehicles.
Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class A) within 120 days of being hired and have a safe driving record.
Ability to attend and successful pass Pole Climbing training.
Ability to climb and work at high elevations.
Ability to work in and around energized equipment. Preferred Qualifications

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Confined spaces and exposure to multiple hazards. Physical Demands

Specific vision abilities req by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
