We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Testto join our team for this hybrid opportunity out of our Waltham, MA office.
Job Summary

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will drive the design and implementation of test automation frameworks and contribute directly to the scalability, reliability, and quality of our SaaS-based products. They will be responsible for driving automation strategy, enhancing CI/CD integration, and mentoring junior engineers in testing best practices. The Senior SDET will work with cross-functional teams to elevate the testability and performance of Imprivata's cloud-based Identity and Access Management platform. The ideal candidate will be a thought-leader in quality engineering, passionate about software quality and test automation. They will be enthusiastic about working with cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Architect, develop, and maintain complex test automation frameworks for UI, API, and service layers.
  • Champion test automation across the organization and promote shift-left testing practices.
  • Lead test strategy discussions and partner with product owners and development teams to define scalable test approaches.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and ensure automated tests run effectively as part of continuous integration and deployment cycles.
  • Ensure high levels of test coverage across key product areas and proactively identify gaps in automation.
  • Partner with development and DevOps teams to enhance test environments, data, and observability.
  • Mentor and support SDETs and QEs in test development, design patterns, and automation practices.
  • Investigate and resolve complex test failures, providing root cause analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices and apply them to testing strategies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in test automation, with demonstrated success leading automation initiatives.
  • Excellent programming skills in one or more of the following: Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with modern test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Appium, TestNG, Cypress, or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of test design methodologies for unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end testing.
  • Expertise in integrating tests with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience building or maintaining test dashboards, and using tools like Report Portal, Dynatrace, or equivalent for monitoring and observability.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
Desired:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience in the healthcare technology domain.
  • Prior experience testing applications built on microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with gRPC, OpenAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, and SonarQube.
  • Knowledge of security testing principles, particularly for systems using multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Cost-aware mindset for managing cloud resources during testing. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a proactive, iterative approach to software quality.

This position offers a salary range of $170,800.00 to $180,800.00 (inclusive of variable compensation such as bonuses and incentives). In addition, more information about Imprivata's benefit offerings can be found here. This salary range represents the high and low end of Imprivata's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, such as a candidate's location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
