2025 Fall Intern - Dissemination and Implementation (D&I)

PCORI
17.50 To 20 (USD) Hourly
United States, D.C., Washington
Aug 05, 2025

About Us

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. PCORI is committed to continually seeking input from a broad range of stakeholders to guide its work.

Position Summary

The Dissemination & Implementation (D&I) team at PCORI works with 40+ health systems through our Health Systems Implementation Initiative to promote the uptake of evidence from PCORI-funded studies in care delivery settings. We would like to understand the diversity of our health systems across a number of characteristics, including health system type, populations served, and geographic coverage (since many are multiple-hospital systems serving multiple states or regions). We are also interested in capturing the implementation approaches these systems are using to accomplish practice change.

Our D&I intern will assist with a project which involves developing categorization schemes, doing research on health systems, and reviewing implementation project plans to extract and summarize relevant data.

The D&I intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop categorization schemes to capture health system characteristics.
  • Complete research on participating health systems, capturing characteristics of each.
  • Develop summary materials, including written summaries and graphics capturing system characteristics.

Pay Range and Employment Status:

Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.

  • Bachelor's hourly pay: $17.50
  • Master's and above hourly pay: $20.00

Required Experience

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled or have confirmed intent to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program in any field of study at the time of hire. Ideal candidates will have a background in medical, social science, or public health.
  • Familiar with the U.S. health system, including familiarity with health system components and insurance structures, and willingness to learn common acronyms used in the literature.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills, be well-organized, a self-starter, and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, graphic design, and PowerPoint.
