Job Summary: Under administrative direction of the Assistant Director for TRIO Student Support Services - Teacher Preparation, the Academic Advisor is responsible for providing advising and support services to SSS participants.Job Description:
Minimal Qualifications: The successful candidate is preferred to possess an earned master's degree in higher education, student affairs or related field with a minimum of three years of experience working as an academic advisor in a four year college or university setting. Candidate should have experience working with TRIO SSS eligible students (income-eligible, first generation, and/or students with disabilities). Candidate must have extensive knowledge of advising principles, practices and procedures. Strong oral and written communication, previous federal grant administrative experience preferred, strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and student databases. Evidence of excellent organizational, interpersonal, customer service, communication and time management skills with ability to pay attention to details and follow-through required. This position requires a background check. Salary / Hourly Rate Range $45,000 to $50,000 annuallyBenefits University employees may be eligible for a variety of State of Illinois benefits.
