Position Highlights

This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration and performs complex personnel cost analyses for various units/programs/activities to support decision making, and maintains the activity-based accounting system for personnel costs. This position is also responsible for the financial operation and reporting for support units and college commitments.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs complex personnel cost analyses for various
    programs/activities to support decision making and help manage hiring plans
    (below are a few examples):
    • Participates in personnel planning during program
      development stage; after program launches, runs regular personnel cost reports
      and meets with program director to help manage staffing plan.
    • Reconciles KFS personnel funding against faculty workload
      assignment in the TAMS system. Requests position funding transactions to ensure
      personnel accounting are consistent with the college activity-based accounting
      principle.
    • Manages the personnel funding lines in the Anaplan system to
      reflect hiring plans and to support personnel planning for the whole college.
  • Is responsible for the financial operation and reporting for college's support units and college commitments. Approves transactions for these areas.
  • Provides monthly budget vs actual reports to support unit heads.
  • Initiates transactions to ensure cash receipts and fund transfers to fulfill college commitments.
  • Stays current of the university's financial systems, policies and processes.
  • Stays in the know of college's major business activities and accounting/budgeting principles.
  • Serves as the backup financial analyst for the business team.
  • Provides ad hoc financial analysis and external reports.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge and use of principles of cost accounting
    in higher education setting.
  • Strong financial analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business related major.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent
    combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in accounting or business-related major is preferred.
  • CPA license is preferred
