15 Position Summary

A Power Quality Specialist acts as a technical liaison for all CPS Energy customers ranging from residential to the largest consumers that including Commercial, Industrial, Governmental, and Manufacturing. The PQ specialist engages in a large variety of tasks that include electrical investigations, load profiling, Infrared Inspections, Customer site analysis, and technical solutions recommendations. Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Extensive electrical distribution and power systems experience working in an energized environment both primary and secondary voltages ranging from 34.5Kv to 120V.
Extensive Experience in using testing equipment to include multimeter for testing voltage and current safely in an energized environment below 600 volts.
Ability to obtain Certified Power Quality Professional within 2 years of accepting job.
Ability to obtain IR Thermographer Level I certification within 2 years of accepting job.
Ability to obtain TVI\RFI certification within 2 years of accepting job.
Prof in MS Office, SAP, OMS, GIS & PI. Eff oral & written comm skills relative to position. Able to persuade others to see his or her pt of vw. Presents inform in a logical manner that addr the cust or other audiences' interests concerns & needs.
A valid Texas driver's license with a history of safe driving record in accordance with CPS Energy policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable laws and regulations.
Ability to work overtime, including weekends and call duty.
Ability to perform technical mathematical functions.
Ability to read, write, and understand technical instructions.
Ability to climb ladders and work in high elevations.
Ability to work with energized circuitry and in close proximity of energized high voltage substations, switch yards, and power plants.
Ability to work with minimum direct supervision allocates time and attention based on what is the most important to achieve key goals and objectives; approaches work in an organized and systematic manner.
Project management that includes effectively managing tasks informing interested parties on project milestones. Keeping staff in the loop on project status and any hurdles that may derail the project time lines.
When required redirect project assets to keep in moving to achieve desired results. Elevates project status to leadership when appropriate or when assistance is required.
Ability to distinguish colors to identify wires and/or components.
Ability to initiate work activities & research tech data to assist in defining requirements & resources needed to implement new ideas; approaches innovation with a practical, task-oriented mindset; converts ideas from gen concepts into actionable plans.

Technical College degree in Electrical Field or Electric distribution experience or in lieu of degree Required Certifications
Working Environment
Indoor and outdoor work, walking, standing, sitting, hearing, bending, crouching. Employee may be subject to extreme noise, extreme temperatures, electrically energized environments and hazardous conditions.
Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Use of power measurement and infrared equipment.
Ability to travel to and from client meetings, training sessions and other business related events. After hours work may be required. Physical Demands
Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
