Your role with us

Join Salem Hospital's 24-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, a comprehensive post-acute facility designed to help individuals regain independence and quality of life after life-changing illness, injury, or surgery. As a Clinical Nurse on this team, you'll deliver compassionate, coordinated care to a diverse adult patient population recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, trauma, cancer, limb loss, complex orthopedic events, and progressive neurological conditions.

You'll collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, therapists, case managers, and nurses to develop tailored care plans focused on functional recovery and meaningful goals. Whether helping a patient take their first steps post-stroke or coaching them through everyday tasks in our ADL apartment, your work makes a real difference - every shift, every patient.

We are looking for nurses who are passionate about rehabilitation nursing, value team collaboration, and take pride in empowering patients through each phase of recovery.

What you'll do

  • Assess and monitor patients' medical, functional, and psychosocial status throughout their rehabilitation journey.
  • Deliver evidence-based care with compassion, encouraging patient participation and involving families in the plan of care.
  • Plan individualized treatment goals in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, adapting interventions as patient needs evolve.
  • Document care clearly and consistently in the EMR, including assessments, treatments, outcomes, and patient education.
  • Communicate effectively with team members using tools like SBAR, ensuring smooth handoffs and patient safety.
  • Lead when needed by acting as charge nurse, mentoring team members, and contributing to unit-based improvement initiatives.
  • Promote safety in all care areas, using proper lifting techniques, infection prevention protocols, and environmental awareness.
  • Support efficiency by managing resources, floating as needed, and actively contributing to a positive, team-oriented unit culture.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non-nursing bachelor's degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN). Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) and graduates of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply; ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
  • Minimum of one year of RN staff nurse experience.
