Summary Job Description: Full Time 40 weekly hours, day shift Job Summary: The manager of radiation therapy is responsible for all radiation therapy staff. Duties include daily clinic operation, technical billing charges, IT liaison for ARIA medical system, productivity monitoring, budgeting, staffing, patient satisfaction improvements, patient and staff rounding, employee evaluations, departmental policy writing and review, active involvement in hospital radiation safety committee, maintaining compliance with DNV or any hospital accrediting body, active involvement in hospital cancer care committee, departmental contracting needs, and other managerial duties that may apply. The manager of radiation therapy works closely with the Executive Director of Oncology, and Radiation Oncologists in promotion of ongoing quality, compliance, and efficiency for the department. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Communicates effectively with all radiation therapy staff, administration, and physicians. 2. Stays competent on all radiation therapy equipment and software. 3. Assesses department activities, ensuring quality patient care is delivered. 4. Maintains a safe environment for all patients, visitors, and staff. Reports any safety concerns to the Executive Director of Oncology. Strives to resolve all safety issues. 5. Mentors staff to develop, revise, implement, and interpret policies, procedures, objectives and goals relative to the department. Guides staff to participate in process improvement activities. 6. Implements monthly rounding on patients, and radiation therapy staff. Strives for patient satisfaction improvements, and strong employee engagement. 7. Responds promptly, and courteously to patient needs by following up on all complaints and concerns. 8. Collaborates with other departments and practices to ensure effective patient care. 9. Conducts monthly staff meetings for radiation therapy department. 10. Prepares budget for capital and operational needs of the radiation therapy department. 11. Participates in radiation safety committee, cancer care committee, among other committees as warranted. 12. Orients new employees, conducts 90 day employee evaluations, annual employee evaluations, and employee competencies. 13. Maintains a professional environment through a clean, orderly department, professional attire, and professional actions. 14. Monitors staffing and productivity, and makes adjustments when needed. 15. Volunteers and encourages staff involvement in community activities in the promotion of BHC. 16. Oversees department billing. This includes insurance pre-authorizations, daily clinical charges review, denial resolutions, and stays informed with updated billing guidelines. 17. Acts as an IT liaison for the department specific ARIA software. This includes troubleshooting IT issues for the radiation therapy staff and physician, with the assistance of the BHC IT Department and Varian technical support. 18. Mediates interpersonal issues with the assistance of the Executive Director of Oncology and the BHC HR Business Partner. 19. Facilitates federal and state regulatory compliance as related to the radiation therapy department, with the assistance of the medical physicist, radiation oncologist, and radiation safety committee. 20. Maintains and documents all efforts under the Leader Evaluation Manager, for annual review with administration Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
