Reporting to the VP and Head of Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Medicine (CPQM) within the Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation Research Unit (RIIRU), the VP, Digital Medicine is a critical leadership role responsible for defining and executing a compelling, future-focused digital strategy. The core purpose of this role is to spearhead the integration of digital tools-including wearables and remote monitoring-into clinical trials, enhancing study design, improving patient engagement, and navigating regulatory frameworks to maximize the likelihood of success.

Continuously evaluating emerging health technologies, including devices and applications to our key therapeutic areas of interest, as VP, Digital Medicine you will ensure GSK is always in a front running position. You will forge 'preferred partner' relationships with external stakeholders including vendors, key opinion leaders, academic and clinical partners, to optimise GSK's strategy and technology capabilities via access to the latest innovations as well as enhancing GSK's reputation in this field.

Leading a multidisciplinary, global team accountable for end-to-end process digital strategy you will successfully collaborate with multiple matrix partners to ensure key transversal activities are executed to drive performance and delivery of the portfolio. Key responsibilities
  • Strategic Vision & Leadership
    Develop and communicate a clear, aspirational vision for digital health innovation within the CPQM organization, ensuring alignment with GSK's mission to deliver transformative outcomes for patients.
  • Digital Endpoint Development
    Conceive, validate, and implement novel digital endpoints across all phases of clinical development, from analytical and clinical validation studies to incorporation into late-phase trials, ensuring endpoints are clinically meaningful, regulatory-acceptable, and enhance patient experience.
  • Clinical Pharmacology Integration
    Collaborate with clinical pharmacologists and quantitative scientists to embed digital health solutions into study design, enabling robust pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling, dose optimization, and the identification and validation of novel digital endpoints.
  • Innovation & Capability Building
    Build and scale industry-leading digital health capabilities, including advanced analytics and AI/ML, to support high-volume, high-dimensional data analysis and real-time decision-making.
  • Portfolio Impact & Operational Excellence
    Map digital clinical initiatives to high-priority pipeline areas, optimizing impact and value across R&D. Lead a multidisciplinary, global department to ensure end-to-end digital strategy execution and successful delivery of the portfolio. Influence throughout the enterprise matrix of GSK's Translational Medicine, Clinical Science, Global Clinical Operations, Research Technologies, and digital and data teams such as AIML and Tech to elevate performance via successful execution.
  • External Partnerships & Reputation Building
    Forge 'preferred partner' relationships with external stakeholders, including technology vendors, key opinion leaders, academic and clinical partners, to access the latest innovations and position GSK as a leader in digital medicine.
  • Patient-Centric Design
    Incorporate the voice of the patient into digital clinical trial design, enhancing recruitment, retention, data quality, and the identification of unmet needs.
  • Regulatory Strategy & Compliance
    Lead engagement with regulatory agencies to define evidentiary standards for digital endpoints and ensure compliance with evolving legal, ethical, and data protection frameworks.
  • Resource & Risk Management
    Identify and align resources (people and financial), set team objectives, and manage risk to ensure successful project completion. Balance innovation with cost, risk, and compliance.
  • Business Development & Integration
    Represent GSK R&D in business development, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration of new digital technologies.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Masters degree in a field such as digital medicine, biomedical engineering, or health informatics.
  • Extensive broad drug development expertise and experience in the pharmaceutical setting
  • Over 10 years of experience in leadership positions within digital health, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • PhD or MD in a field such as digital medicine, biomedical engineering, or health informatics.
  • Highly developed ethics and integrity, with demonstrated ethical medical decision-making skills.
  • Understands the entirety of R&D across the development/commercial life cycle to allow impact across all functions and deeply specialized knowledge of clinical trial design and conduct.
  • Track record of success working in highly complex, matrixed, global, and multi-disciplinary organizations with high accountability, and multiple lines of reporting.
  • Experience working with applicable regulators and regulatory requirements including an understanding of the legal and government frameworks for digital approaches and associated data management and protection within and across global geographies.
  • Strong people management, leadership, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and successfully across functions
  • Ability to build relationships and create authentic alignment while leading high performing teams in a collaborative and purposeful manner to achieve defined
The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $200,475 to $334,125 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
