Summary
The MIL Corporationis seeking aJunior Network Engineer (Network/Systems Admin. Specialist, I)to support a Federal Government client in St. Inigoes, MD. The Network Engineer will provide support to the government client and interface with RDT&E and other support organizations. The Junior Network Engineer will apply system engineering and computer networking principles to the development, design and integration of hardware and software systems associated with local, regional and wide area networks and systems that process and route voice, video, data, and imagery information.
This position currently requires an on-site schedule, with 5 days on-siteand is eligible for Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.
Responsibilities
The Junior Network Engineer may perform the following responsibilities under the direct supervision of Senior level Network Engineers:
Act under the direction of more senior positions to support the research into fundamental computer, network, software and information technology systems
Conduct research into cyber threats, adversarial offensive and defensive tools, techniques, and methods, and mitigation solutions
Conduct research into problems in the field of computer hardware and software with a focus on system security and vulnerability
Conduct research into information technology architectures and infrastructure
Review detailed network designs and network configurations to ensure consistency with the architecture, as well as gain insight into optimizing network architectures based on real-world applications
Create, update, and maintain system level baseline documentation to include block diagrams, Simple Network Diagrams (SND), Detailed Network Diagrams (DND), and router & switch configuration Templates
Implement network and operating System Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to secure all aspects of the network. Assist in providing IATT and ATO packages for labenvironments
Provide network expertise and establish connections on site installations
Provide engineering expertise and troubleshooting skills to solve problems and restore reliability to the network and associated systems
Provide inputs to routine weekly meetings, status updates, site calls, and written documentation for procedures, trip reports, and network analysis
Conduct research and testing on the latest state-of-the-art information technologies by use of Wireshark or other testing methods
Work closely with other departments/organizations and collaborate with other IT staff on infrastructure activities
Support customer's briefings and design reviews, and work independently in a multi-tasking environment
Plan and implement future IT development projects and conduct project work
Travel
25% to 40% (CONUS and OCONUS)
Required Qualifications
Relevant work experience related to the duties above
Possess knowledge and skills in working with different networks devices and network technologies including switches and routers (Cisco, Brocade, Lantronix), network devices (Firewalls)
DoD 8140 CSWF certificationno later than 180 days from performance start(Cloud+ OR Security+)
Ability to develop and write Standard Operating Procedures for technical and non-technical consumers as well as Network Diagrams
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to move/lift up to 50 lbs
Must be flexible with work schedule to include occasional weekends
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline
Prior relevant NAVAIR/NAWCAD internships
Cisco CCNA Certification
Proficiency with Microsoft Visio
Experience with wireless or microwave point-to-point networking
Experience with IPSEC VPN and L2TP
Familiarity with Linux - RHEL, SUNOS systems
Current U.S. Passport

For this position, the projected compensation range is $21.63 - $26.45 per hour. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package.
