Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Machine Shop Apprentice will work under the
supervision of experienced machinists and fabricators to learn the
fundamentals of machining, fabrication, equipment setup, and shop safety.
This is an entry-level training position with a strong emphasis on developing
skills needed to operate, maintain, and eventually program manual and CNC
machinery in a production environment.

Assist in setup and operation of manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)
Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Follow machining instructions and standard operating procedures
Measure, inspect, and verify machined parts for accuracy using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Perform general shop tasks such as deburring, cleaning, and organizing parts
Maintain a clean and safe work environment; follow all safety and PPE requirements
Shadow senior machinists and participate in hands-on training
Complete entry level safety program within machine shop.
Participate in basic maintenance of equipment
Document work and track training milestones
Reporting on the performance of the quality management system and on opportunities for improvement to management.
Ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization and in particular, your area of responsibility.
Ensuring that the integrity of the quality management system is maintained when changes to the quality management system are planned and implemented.
Ensuring that the processes are delivering their intended outputs.
Support all EHS activities and strictly adhere to all work instructions and safety procedures.
Immediately report any unsafe or unhealthy working condition to your supervisor/leadership.


Qualifications

Qualifications and
Skills:

High school diploma or GED required
Strong interest in manufacturing, mechanical work, or machining
Basic math and measurement skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team
Dependable attendance and punctuality
