Job Title: Dock Baler
Department: Operations and Production
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Supervisor: Dock Foreman
SUMMARY: Process and bale designated materials by performing the following essential duties:

Hours: Full-time, 40hr

Pay Rate: $16.00/hr

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Donations:
* Represent The Salvation Army by interacting courteously with donors.
* Receive, collect, and handle donations. Issue receipts to donors as requested. Transport donated materials
to appropriate locations within warehouse.

Baler:
* Bale clothes or cardboard following standards and quotas of The Salvation Army.
* Follow protocol for placing product in the baler to ensure bale will compact evenly.
* Follow all safety protocol, to include but not limited to the use and wear of safety protective equipment &
all lock-out/tag-out procedures, to ensure OSHA compliance. Ensure others maintain proper safety
protocols.
* Keep record of the number and weight of bales, following department guidelines.
* Transport completed bales to designated holding area.
General:
* Responsible for proper and safe utilization of forklift, pallet jack, and all other equipment when moving
materials.
* Safeguard tools and equipment against unauthorized movement.
* Maintain a sense of order and cleanliness to effectively process donated materials.
* Support the mission of The Salvation Army.
* Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: No specific education or experience is required.

Language Skills: No specific language skills are required. Must be able to speak and understand English in a
manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers,
based on the assumption that such individuals can only speak and understand English.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Ability to recognize similarities and
differences between words and between series of numbers.

Clerical/Mathematical Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and
memos. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and comprehend measurements.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be certified to operate a forklift. Must be appropriately certified
to operate other machinery or equipment if such certifications are required. Drivers License is desirable but not
required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an
employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, and
feel, and frequently reach, lift, and carry with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand for extended
periods of time and to walk, climb, balance, stoop, and bend. Must be able to regularly move, push, or lift between
50 and 75 pounds, frequently move or lift up to 100 pounds, and occasionally move or lift more than 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment of this position is a warehouse/loading dock environment. The
employee may be exposed to temperature variations and outdoor weather conditions, including cold, heat, wind,
and precipitation. The environment may be dusty with a moderate to loud noise level.

OTHER

Must be 18 years or older.
Must have a friendly, polite disposition to interact with donors.

Warehouse experience preferred.

Must be willing and able to consistently follow and enforce Safety rules.
Must be willing and able to do repetitive work.
