Provides clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to assessment, monitoring and optimization of patient specific pharmaceutical care. Serves as a departmental and organizational lead in area(s) of expertise and provides educational programming and staff development to physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other practitioners in assigned specialty area. Oversees organizational development and revisions of medication therapy regimens, protocols and processes. Serves all patient populations including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

Lead Clinical Pharmacist - Investigational Drug Research

  1. Oversee daily activities of Investigational Drug Service (IDS) team (e.g. Research Clinical Pharmacist, Lead Research Pharmacy Technician, Lead Patient Assistance Technician)
  2. Ensure pharmacy research personnel scheduled to provide adequate research staffing coverage for Investigational Drug Service
  3. Performs duties of a clinical pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care related to research studies.
  4. Coordinates daily activities of IDS to include protocol review and set up, budget development and inventory maintenance.
  5. Monitors all aspects of medication use in the research population.
  6. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with principal investigators, trial coordinators, research managers & nursing personnel in service area.
  7. Oversee communication and training of all staff anticipated to participate in any aspect of a clinical trial
  8. Participates in quality initiatives including evaluation and analysis of medication use practices.
  9. Assists in development of medication use protocols specific to area of practice.
  10. Ensure compliance with hospital, state, federal and regulatory standards regarding clinical research

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  2. Doctor of Pharmacy degree OR six (6) years of equivalent knowledge base/experience.
  3. Completion of a post-Doctor of Pharmacy Degree clinical residency of one (1) year OR equivalent clinical experience.
  4. Three (3) years previous hospital pharmacy practice experience.
  5. Ability to develop, organize and implement various programs.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  7. Evidence of an ability to work well with others, a team player.
  8. Evidence of teaching skills.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Experience with investigational drugs or research
  2. Oncology Experience
  3. Previous experience in staff development
  4. Clinical residency

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY THE STATE AT NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL

  1. Current licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Georgia
