PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Manager T&C is tasked with ensuring any new or altered Signals & Communication (S&C) systems have been rigorously validated per CPKC standards, Transport Canada (TC) and US Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations, and verification results are satisfactory before the S&C system is placed into service.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor Document, implement, monitor, and enforce T&C processes, Regulatory requirements, CPKC Required Practices and Red Book requirements
  • Produce, and check system level test documentation
  • Coordinate, produce documentation, and validate vital software application testing.
  • Coordinate verification and validation activities, including project phasing plan, schedule, resources and test team management, within S&C Construction, S&C Design, and S&C Project Controls
  • Ensure the timely delivery of different milestones, including field audits, and verification and validation documentation
  • Authorize and approve placing S&C systems in service after test activities are complete
  • Review and provide recommendations for improvements for CPKC S&C technical and procedural standards to ensure that the best possible practices are in place

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years' S&C Construction, Maintenance, or Design experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in test lead, employee in charge role an asset
  • Engineering degree or relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) License an asset

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
