USC's Information Sciences Institute (ISI), a unit of the university's Viterbi School of Engineering, is a world leader in the research and development of advanced artificial intelligence, information processing, computing, cybersecurity, and communications technologies. ISI's 350 faculty, professional staff and graduate students carry out extraordinary information sciences research at three distinct locations - Marina Del Rey, CA; Arlington, VA; and Waltham, MA.

*This position is located in Marina del Rey, CA. This is a 6-month, fixed-term position. *

The Space Engineering Research Center (SERC) at ISI is looking for a Programmer Analyst I.

The type of work required is mechanical and electrical development of calibration, test and verification ground test modules and sets for projects specifically related to Space applications. This would include CAD design, FEM software analysis, fabrication and assembly abilities, supply chain assessment and identification, hands on assembly abilities for mechanical systems, etc. Knowledge of the space operations environment is required to validate the test and calibration modules support validation of space capable systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICTIONS:

  • Combined skill sets of mechanical and electronic design experience for a wide range of various robotic, sensor fusion, locomotion and air bearing test facilities
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Ability and knowledge to build a variety of test apparatus with disparate requirements in a short time
  • Knowledge of the space operations environment

The hourly rate range for this position is $35.10 - $40.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined work experience and education as equivalent
Minimum Experience: 0 - 6 months
Minimum Field of Expertise: General knowledge of programming and documentation procedures and programming methods and operator instructions. Knowledge of one or more appropriate computer languages.
