We are hiring an experienced and highly skilled Senior Staff Dev Ops and Data Platform Engineer to architect, build, and lead the core DevOps infrastructure and data platform strategy for Enterprise Apps Team.

This is a Senior Lead level individual contributor role with deep technical ownership across critical systems supporting software delivery, data pipelines, platform automation, and infrastructure reliability.

This role requires a strong blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, and hands-on expertise, with the autonomy and influence to drive platform direction, tooling, and architectural standards.

Responsibilities

DevOps & Platform Engineering

  • Architect and implement scalable, secure, and efficient DevOps infrastructure in cloud-native environments.
  • Define and standardize practices for CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), and deployment automation.
  • Lead initiatives in release engineering, including implementation of blue/green, canary, and rollback strategies.
  • Develop and manage systems for monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Embed security, compliance, and governance practices into DevOps infrastructure workflows.

Data Platform & Pipeline Engineering

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), supporting orchestration, transformation, and integration across diverse data sources.
  • Ensure data reliability, observability, and lineage across the data platform.
  • Support both batch and streaming data workflows for analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.
  • Partner closely with data analysts, data scientists, and engineers to deliver trusted, scalable data systems.

Technical Strategy & Influence

  • Serve as a domain expert and technical leader across DevOps and Data Engineering efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and evolve the platform roadmap and architectural direction.
  • Evaluate and introduce tools, frameworks, and patterns that align with the organization's scale and growth plans.
  • Mentor engineers across infrastructure and data teams; promote knowledge sharing and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in DevOps, Data Engineering, or Platform Engineering, including high-impact IC roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Expertise in building cloud infrastructure using AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Deep proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
  • Strong background in CI/CD pipeline implementation, with tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or ArgoCD.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in DataOps environments or building data infrastructure in regulated domains (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2).
  • Familiarity with streaming data technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Flink.
  • Experience with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) and incident response processes.
  • A track record of driving cross-functional platform initiatives and influencing long-term infrastructure strategy.

Remote: US only roles

The anticipated base salary range in the United States is $131,000 to $170,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. CareDx is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
