Assistant Business Controller:

As an Assistant Business Controller, you will act as a key financial liaison between internal teams-such as General Ledger, Revenue, and Contracts-and client-facing groups, including Sales and Client Alignment. This highly collaborative and operational role emphasizes financial analysis, data interpretation, and cross-functional communication. You will interact daily with clients and internal stakeholders to address financial inquiries, review contracts, conduct variance analysis, and support change requests. As you grow in the role, you will take on greater ownership of client communications and begin leading financial review meetings with business leaders. Proficiency in tools like Excel and Power BI is essential, as the role involves working with large data sets, building reports, and presenting actionable insights. A strong foundation in financial operations, accounting principles, and effective communication skills is key to success.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial information to support strategic decision making
  • Responsible for reporting of revenue, cash collections and other financial metrics for assigned business unit
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including project management, billing and collections, account owners and sales to ensure accurate financial management
  • Support business leaders as a trusted advisor and financial consultant
  • Perform client account reconciliations
  • Present quarterly results to internal partners
  • Work with business controllers to set and drive the financial strategy for the business unit
  • Assist with management of financial performance including bookings, revenue and cash collections
  • Create ad hoc and update standard reporting to secure closure of financial issues and sales opportunities
  • Provide input to the financial planning process
  • Perform business forecasting and provide variance analysis of results relative to forecast

Qualifications
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • At least 2-3 years' experience in accounting and finance
  • Strong technical accounting and knowledge of US GAAP
  • Ability to develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, controls and financial reporting requirements
  • High level of professionalism with internal and external customers
  • Flexible, proactive with the ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines and exhibit flexibility to change
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate across organizational functions

Preferred

  • MBA
  • CPA
  • At least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Experience working in FinancialForce or equivalent ERP platforms
  • Experience working in PowerBI
  • "Big Four" firm audit experience
  • Software revenue recognition and accounting for multiple element arrangements experience
  • Private and public accounting sector experience
