Job Description
Primary Purpose The PALNG Electrician is a skilled tradesperson who installs, repairs, inspects, and maintains electrical equipment. They work with precision instruments and electrical knowledge to ensure the proper functioning of electrical power distribution systems (120v,240v,480v,4160v,13.8kV,34.5kV,230kV). They ensure that electrical systems are safe, functional, and compliant with industry specifications and regulatory requirements. The PALNG Electrician will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and efficiency of our electrical systems and components.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with PALNG safety protocols, procedures, and NFPA 70E regulations to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to detect hazards, defects, malfunctions, needs for adjustments or repairs, and areas for improvements. Perform regular inspections of electrical enclosures to ensure environmental protection is effective in prevention of contamination and corrosion. Install, repair, inspect, and maintain electrical wiring systems, including and fixtures in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical specifications. Work from ladders, scaffolds, or heights.
Perform switching orders to Isolate / Energize electrical distribution systems. Install temproary ground cables on isolated electrical distrubution equipment. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems and issues using test equipment and hand tools and implement effective solutions to ensure optimal performance and functionality. Identify electrical equipment failures, document and communicate findings. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Terminate conductors to circuit breakers, transformers, motors, and other electrical components. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects.
Perform business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment. Provide preliminary plans and sketches for materials and/or services needed, based on job specifications and NEC. Document work performed, including repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities, using electronic records and reports. Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to plan and execute electrical installations and upgrades. Stay up to date with technological advancements, industry trends, and best practices in electrical systems and equipment. Participating in PALNG required training programs and maintains required electrical credentials. Willing to work Overtime and be on-call. (Rotation basis)
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems on energized equipment. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Aid during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles. Perform housekeeping duties to keep the area clean and free from debris. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications Education
- H.S. Diploma/GED - Required
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in Petrochemical, Refining, Power Generation or LNG Required
- 5 + years of experience as Journeyman Electrician related experience In-service work or Industrial environment. - Required
- 1+ years of experience in Compatible leadership roles Preferred
Skills and Abilities
Licenses and Certifications
- State Industrial Electricians License Required
- Journeyman or Master Electrical Certification Required
- TWIC Required
- Valid Driver's License Preferred
Other Qualifications
- NFPA 70e Certification (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace)
Work Schedule
OFFICE: Work onsite at a company facility due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
