As a Sr. Manager, R&D Process Engineering, you will have a pivotal role in driving forward our mission of advancing eye care through the development of innovative next-generation products. This position is located in Fort Worth, Texas and a typical day will include:
- Providing leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team of engineers working on the development of processes, methods, and equipment for IOL manufacturing.
- Strategically enhancing the team's capabilities and fostering collaboration with other R&D teams and Manufacturing organizations.
- Driving systematic, data-based development using state-of-the-art development tools to achieve efficiency, quality, and technical excellence.
- Ensuring planning and tracking of project activities incl. associated spend budget and communication of high-level status to leadership and team.
- Ensuring alignment with organizational goals and project targets.
- Collaborating with other R&D functions, MS&T / Manufacturing, and Project Management to ensure project success.
- Developing and overseeing the execution of test protocols, technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Driving a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement by leveraging Lean Six Sigma principles and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) best practices.
- Leading root cause analysis and mitigation efforts to address emerging manufacturing or product issues.
- Actively contributing to strengthen the organization's ways of working.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers ensuring the best possible support.
What You'll Bring to Alcon:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 7 Years of Relevant Experience
- 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
- Academic degree in physics or engineering (e.g. biomedical, chemical, mechanical), advanced degree preferred
- Management experience within R&D or Manufacturing environment.
- Experience in development of manufacturing processes and equipment, preferably within medical device industry with experience in GxP.
- Deep understanding of production environments and their specific needs.
- Expertise in state-of-the-art tools and methods for process development.
- Broad process understanding and scientific approach with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Systematic thinking and project planning experience.
- Knowledge and experience with polymers, machining and machines tools, a plus.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles, software development, and data science preferable.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Open minded, innovative, passionate, and self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
