General Purpose of Job: Works with the physician that specializes in the management of complex airway and pleural diseases. Interventional pulmonology offers advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to aid in the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the lung. Responsible for providing assessment, evaluation, and treatment of pulmonary patients under the guidance of the interventional pulmonologist. Serves as a single point of contact for physicians, patients and caregivers to provide resources and assistance to those patients with lung disease. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Inpatient clinical work can include:
- Inpatient consultation and follow up
- Presenting patients at multidisciplinary tumor board discussions
- Pre-procedure H&Ps and consents
- Independently performing inpatient pleural and airway procedures
- Assisting in bronchoscopic procedures
- Participates in procedure based clinical trials
- Patient education
Outpatient clinical work can include:
- New patient and return clinic visit consultations
- Pre-procedure/Pre-p[ clinic evaluation
- Outpatient thoracentesis clinic - evaluates and performs procedure
- Lung cancer screening - pulmonary nodule program
- Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction program
- Research / Database collection
- Patient education

Work Experience |
* Minimum of one year as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in acute hospital setting required. |
Education |
Physician Assistant: * Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP. * Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). * Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State. Nurse Practitioner: * Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State. * Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program * Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). * Experience as an adult gerontology nurse practitioner (inpatient/procedural). |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Ability to manage complex pulmonary and critical careconditions over long periods of time as part of a collaborative team * Demonstrated competency in providing comprehensive health care including evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. * Excellent Interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare associates. * Proficient in use of electronic medical records systems. * Proficient in use of Microsoft Office. * Ability to use project management tools: databases, spreadsheets, graphics, etc. |

- Mangesdaily operation for Lung Nodule program in conjunction with the physicians
- Clinic and inpatient
- Minimum1 year experience as an APP is preferred
- Preferred experience Oncology, Pulmonary or Critical Care
- EPIC EMR
