Dartmouth College: Geisel School of Medicine: Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology Location Godek Lab, Lebanon, NH Open Date Jun 13, 2025 Description Seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to develop cutting-edge technology for culturing human stem cells. The Godek lab in the Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology invites applications for a Research Scientist with expertise in stem cell biology. This project is a collaboration between the Godek lab and a biotech industry partner that aims to develop technology for culturing human pluripotent stem cells using 3D-tissue mimetic substrates to optimize their growth and differentiation ability. The Research Scientist will independently execute project goals but will work in our highly supportive team environment. This is a 2-year funded full-time position in Lebanon, NH with a start date preferably in August 2025. The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth is dedicated to improving human health through research and education with campuses located in Hanover and Lebanon, New Hampshire. The area is renowned for its beautiful location along the Connecticut River and easy access to outdoor activities. Key Responsibilities Research/Experiments * Culture and maintain human pluripotent stem cells in 2D and 3D conditions * Independently design and perform experiments comparing functional properties of human pluripotent stem cells in 2D vs. 3D culture using a variety of methods * Perform literature searches to stay current on topics relevant to project goals Data Collection/Preparation * Collect, analyze, and interpret data * Maintain accurate and detailed records associated with all laboratory activities * Prepare understandable data presentations for internal and external academic and industry partners, including at laboratory meetings, departmental retreats, and scientific conferences * Publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals Collaboration and Professional Development * Work in a collaborative environment with other group members * Engage in professional development opportunities to expand skills Dartmouth College Benefits Information: https://www.dartmouth.edu/hr/benefits_compensation/coming_going/new_to_benefits/ Qualifications Required Qualifications * PhD or master's with 5+ years of relevant experience * Demonstrated experience with basic biochemical, cell, and molecular biology laboratory techniques (e.g. western blotting, PCR, cloning, transfection) * Demonstrated experience in culturing human stem cells, preferably human pluripotent stem cells * Demonstrated ability to independently lead a project from design to completion * Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey scientific concepts, experimental designs, and findings in writing and verbally with academic and industry partners * Proven track record of research accomplishments with peer-reviewed scientific publications Preferred Qualifications * Expertise in microscopy including immunofluorescence, live-cell imaging, and quantitative image analysis is highly desirable * Experience in basic histology techniques * Experience with gene expression profiling using real-time qPCR Application Instructions Please submit the following materials electronically to Dr. Kristina Godek (Kristina.M.Godek@dartmouth.edu) with "Stem Cell Research Scientist Application" in the subject line. 1.
