Job Overview

The Editorial Content Associate leads the product contenting and styling for RTW, Center Core, and Beauty for non-promotional marketing across all media types, with a digital-first mindset. They validate merchant buys against trend forecasts to determine the largest trends, newness, and brands to support, partnering with the Director to develop quarterly strategies and monthly roadmaps. They lead the Editorial Assistants in developing cohesive, inspirational, and engaging storytelling through product selections that support key categories, relevant trends, product and brand priorities, and current consumer interests across Macy's. The Associate oversees the early stages of Editorial Assistant styling and brand mix curation for campaigns before final submissions. They work with the Editorial Director to refine and elevate ideas and finalize styling prior to VP and SVP presentations. The Associate serves as the point of contact between Merch Marketing, Production, and Creative teams to ensure work is appropriately briefed for creative execution. They also lead the optimization of marketing processes and workflow for merchandising. They must have a strong eye for product and possess the ability to influence at multiple levels. They perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

  • Stay curious about emerging fashion, marketing, travel, and street style trends through competitive analysis of fashion magazines, stores, digital guides, emails, social media, mobile applications, and cultural trends.
  • Proactively provide innovative marketing ideas for all channels.
  • Maintain and adhere to the marketing workflow calendar to ensure all projects are planned and executed on schedule.
  • Establish best practices and processes for non-promotional marketing content, identifying and implementing efficiencies where needed.
  • Lead and influence marketing and creative counterparts to support the merchant vision and strategy.
  • Communicate with merchants on all marketing initiatives, including product direction, storytelling, sample collection, due dates, and the turn-in process for all non-promotional marketing types across print, digital, and social media.
  • Attend turn-ins to present products to the creative, marketing, and project management teams.
  • Act as an internal project manager to ensure every aspect of assigned projects is executed from inception to completion across all channels. This includes working with marketing on briefs, print/digital turn-ins, digital testing/product pools, and mobile and social applications.
  • Collaborate with the Editorial Content Director and Business Strategy teams to ensure all CFOB marketing vehicles tell a cohesive story that supports key categories, relevant trends, product priorities/brands, and current consumer interests.
  • Work with visual teams to style select in-store CFOB moments and OYS fixtures.
  • Quickly evaluate and sunset legacy approaches that no longer align with the strategy.
  • Foster an engaging, collaborative culture with team members and cross-functional partners, proactively maintaining and engaging your network.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
  • Consistently perform and be accountable for all actions, maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Skills You Will Need

Presentation Skills: Attend turn-ins to present products to the creative, marketing, and project management teams.

Collaboration: Collaborate with the Editorial Content Director and Business Strategy teams to ensure all CFOB marketing vehicles tell a cohesive story that supports key categories, relevant trends, product priorities/brands, and current consumer interests.

Adaptability: Quickly evaluate and sunset legacy approaches that no longer align with the strategy.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and speak before groups of customers or employees.

Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to secure the best outcomes for marketing initiatives.

Multi-Tasking Ability: Efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 3-6 years or relevant experience.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
