Position Description:

Are you passionate about cutting-edge research at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and medicine? We're seeking a talented Scientist to join our dynamic team! Our mission is to develop novel PET imaging agents for widely metastatic cancers and to develop novel radioligand therapies for such cancers, and test them in cellular and animal models. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and have a keen interest in both imaging and treatment of cancer, this role is perfect for you!

A multi-year NIH T32 post-doctoral training position is available in Theranostics Laboratory at Division of Nuclear Medicine/Dept. of Radiology of Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa. The Theranostics laboratory studies developing new PET probes for management of advanced malignancies and novel radio-ligand therapies for cancer. We are particularly interested in the preclinical development of new PET probes that can aid in detecting therapy resistance of various tumor lesions in a patient and new approaches for targeted radioligand therapy.

Education Requirement:

Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D. in biomedical or related sciences (Chemistry, Pharmacy, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.) with at least one year of bench research experience.

Required Qualifications:


  • Candidate should be United States' citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Experience with sterile mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with histochemical staining techniques such as immunofluorescence, RNA in situ hybridization, and/or immunocytochemistry.
  • Desire andor experience in working with laboratory animals.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry as related to research design and experimentation.
  • Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques such PCR and RT-PCR.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Experience with 3D cell cultures(tumor spheroids)
  • Experience with thin layer chromatography, column chromatography
  • Experience with hybridization and radioligand labelling techniques.
  • Experience in working with laboratory animals including tissue dissection and processing.
