Our collaborative and people-focused Human Resources and Administrative teams are seeking a full-time Vice President or Senior Vice President of People and Culture to join us in shaping a positive and thriving workplace. This leadership role is based in one of our office locations-Minneapolis, St. Paul, Fargo, Madison, or Chicago-and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

As VP/SVP of People and Culture you will lead with empathy, vision, and purpose-guiding all aspects of our people strategy. This includes nurturing talent, championing employee growth and retention, fostering a culture of inclusion and engagement, and ensuring our HR practices align with both our organizational goals and the evolving needs of our team. You'll serve as a strategic advisor and partner to leadership, using a people-first approach to drive business outcomes.

Beyond strategic HR leadership, you will also oversee core administrative operations, helping to ensure day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the business. This is a unique opportunity to influence how we support, empower, and grow our people across the organization.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to develop people-centered initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership team to develop and execute a comprehensive people-centered strategy aligned with the company's vision, mission and values.
  • Foster a positive, value-driven company culture aligned with the mission and vision.
  • Foster open communication channels between employees and leadership.

People and Culture

  • Employee Development

o Lead the implementation of innovative talent programs that drive growth, engagement, and retention.

o Lead development and monitoring of employee engagement programs to drive motivation and productivity.

o Identify training needs and promote continuous learning for our employees.

o Identify and develop future leaders through training, mentorship, and coaching.

  • Provide tools and training, to empower supervisors to successfully lead their teams that results in higher operational performance, higher employee satisfaction, and higher amounts of innovation and collaboration.
  • Use analytics to identify trends, guide decisions, and evaluate people-centered initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of open feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that everyone feels welcome, champion a sense of belonging, and promote different perspectives and ideas.
  • Track workforce key performance indicators and employee satisfaction metrics.

Human Resources and Administration

  • Develop and lead Human Resources and Administrative team members.
  • Establish frameworks for performance reviews, feedback, and development plans.
  • Design and implement performance systems that promote accountability and growth.
  • Lead talent acquisition strategies, including hiring and onboarding.
  • Provide an inclusive recruitment process and a respectful, diverse workplace.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of competitive compensation aligned with market standards and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent.
  • Collaborate annually with insurance brokers to evaluate cost-effective medical and dental plans, considering coverage types and employer/employee cost sharing.
  • Address employee concerns, grievances, and conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
  • Ensure labor law compliance and liaise with legal on employee matters.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in related field. HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
  • Leadership experience focused on staff development and employee growth.
  • Experience in implementing training programs, career path strategies, leadership development and performance management systems.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in human resources or similar leadership roles, with a track record of driving strategic people-centered, human resources, or administrative initiatives in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to excel at both speaking and listening, influencing and engaging at all levels of the organization.
  • Works effectively with managers, employees, and executive leadership to deliver people-centered, human resources, or administrative initiatives and support organizational goals through open communication and shared ownership.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence (EQ) is essential to resolve conflicts, empathize with employees, and maintain calm in stressful situations, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change, with a focus on building a positive organizational culture.

Salary Range: $195,000 - $230,000

Compensation is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, job location, internal equity, market analysis, and specific qualifications relevant to the role.
