Job Overview:

RWJ Barnabas Health New Brunswick is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Hand Hygiene Specialist to support the hospital s SMARTLINK hand hygiene compliance program. This critical role ensures that all hand hygiene equipment functions properly and consistently across the facility, directly contributing to infection prevention and patient safety.

The Hand Hygiene Specialist will be responsible for maintaining Purell Sanitizer and Provon Soap Dispensers, monitoring the SMARTLINK system for alerts, troubleshooting offline devices, and ensuring equipment is stocked, clean, and operational. This individual will respond promptly to service requests, perform routine maintenance, and collaborate with clinical staff to support hand hygiene best practices. This is a hands-on, proactive role ideal for someone who is organized, technically inclined, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a healthcare environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Comfort using iPhone and iPad apps for SMARTLINK system access
  • Ability to follow instructions under supervision and also work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of hospital hand hygiene policy and adult learning methods is a plus
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to the organization's values

Preferred:

  • Clinical or healthcare experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Working Shift: Monday-Friday
  • Day Shift: 6:00AM-2:30PM (Occasional flexibility required to work evenings or weekends as needed)
  • Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and refill Purell and Provon dispensers throughout the hospital
  • Monitor and respond to alerts from the SMARTLINK hand hygiene system
  • Replace batteries and repair or replace malfunctioning or broken devices
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues related to offline devices
  • Ensure all devices have drip trays, and clean trays regularly
  • Respond to Out of Service calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Support data collection and documentation related to dispenser performance
  • Collaborate with clinical and facilities staff to maintain high hand hygiene standards
