Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an
ASL/
CART Accommodation Assistant for Rutgers Access and Disability Resources. The position will assist with coordinating American Sign Language (
ASL), Communication Access Real-time Translation (
CART), and Captioning for students approved for accommodations at all Rutgers campuses. This position is responsible for providing services in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments of 2008.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists with coordinating intake sessions for ASL/CART, Audio Description, and Captioning accommodations, ensuring all requests are processed efficiently.
- Collaborates with faculty to communicate students' approved accommodations, provide training on best practices, and troubleshoot any related issues that arise.
- Partners with external vendors to ensure timely and accurate accommodation needs are met.
- Maintains detailed documentation and provide regular reports.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Up two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Previous customer service experience.
- Work with D/deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals is a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Excellent communication skills: listening, oral, and written.
- Must have previous experience using Microsoft Office software.
