Salary:

FUCHS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $94,000 per year, but actual salary will vary depending upon a new hire's experience and qualifications as well as internal equity.



Your Responsibilities:

The Equipment Engineer is responsible for all aspects of packaging equipment, including specifying and procurement of equipment, installation qualifications, operation, and approved packaging specifications. This includes but is not limited to planning, organizing, managing, and maintaining the performance, maintenance, repair, calibration and upkeep of all Fairhaven equipment, tools, and packaging components in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, standards, policies, and procedures as well as EH&S policies. This role is responsible for designing and developing the best process, equipment, and tooling to package newly developed products as well as existing products into a variety of different configurations (primary, secondary, tertiary). This role will also support packaging projects at other FUCHS plants in the future.




  • Oversee the purchases, installation, set-up of packaging equipment, and maintenance of equipment operation in support of the manufacturing schedule and priorities.
  • Coordinates and conducts packaging trials as applicable in support of new products or packaging changes to determine if products can feasibly be packaged into requested containers that adhere to the quality expectations.
  • Develops and leads projects identified to improve the efficiency of the workflow and reduce bottlenecks within the packaging operation for various packaging equipment associated with, but not limited to, semi-automated and manual processes in support of LEAN and 6S principles.
  • Conducts package testing, analyzes test data, and prepares reports to include recommendations and conclusions.
  • Assist with evaluating new packaging, new packaging materials, and new packaging processes.
  • Participates in the development and approval of all packaging specifications in packaging operations, including but not limited to corrugated, containers, regulatory requirements, risk management, and materials
  • Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting with manufacturing, equipment engineering, process engineering, and maintenance related to packaging materials, equipment, or manufacturing. processes
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training for manual and semi-automated packaging equipment.
  • Participates in the development and execution of the installation, operational, and performance qualifications of packaging equipment (IQ, OQ, and PQ).
  • Collaborate with Maintenance on developing a preventative maintenance and calibration plan for all packaging equipment.
  • Monitors industry standards and trends to identify developments in packaging equipment and processes.
  • Provides leadership on project planning and builds technical equipment/material knowledge to drive innovation, efficiency, and margin improvements.
  • Works with EHS and Quality to ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and certification requirements.


Qualifications we are looking for:


  • BS in Mechanical, Automation, Mfg. Engineering with a focus on packaging systems.
  • 3-5 years' experience in packaging processes and equipment
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and Six Sigma preferred
  • TPM or Preventative Maintenance Experience preferred
  • Strong conceptual problem-solving skills are exhibited by the ability to approach complex, ambiguous problems and formulate pathways towards a solution
  • Experience in project management exhibited by the ability to lead multiple project workstreams involving several functions while maintaining project timelines.
  • Ability to develop, design, and complete projects to improve the operational efficiency of packaging processes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to facilitate conversations with colleagues across departments, and that bring out ideas, identify problems, and work towards solutions.
  • High degree of flexibility exhibited in a "can-do" attitude
  • Ability to move 75 lbs.. and being on your feet for extended periods.
  • Up to 15% of travel within the USA will be required.
