Description

SUMMARY

Administers all aspects of AMPP's standards development operations. Provides support to members and operations staff for AMPP standards committees, joint committees, and ISO TAGS in the development and publication of standards, guides, and technical reports. Coordinates with the department director, Technical Engagement team, and other staff teams to expand AMPP's technical programs, products, and services. Ensures the production of technical standards that are relevant to industry and meet the goals of AMPP. Ensures optimal processes, appropriate tools, and positive user experience for committee volunteers. Assists is managing standards-related products, content, contracts, and partnership agreements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Oversees and manages the standards team's use of operational and informational systems including but not limited to the AMS (association management system), technical committee collaboration and document development platform, the CMS (content management system), virtual meeting applications, and other supportive systems.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of standards development best practices and positions AMPP's standards development program to compare favorably with peer organizations' processes. Manages the ANSI accreditation process to ensure that AMPP's program meets the ANSI essential requirements and maintains accreditation
  • Manages the Standards Operations staff and coordinates standards development operations, including time keeping approval, work allocation, hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and general oversight and guidance.
  • Consults with technical engagement team on committee activities, standards development road mapping, feedback from members, problems and solutions, etc.
  • Manages expenses within assigned cost centers particularly associated with committee activities.
  • Oversees pricing, changes and data updates in the AMPP content platform and with third party resellers. Works with content management staff to keep content information and metadata current.
  • Hires, supervises, and assigns work to consultants where appropriate.
  • Develops and communicates new procedures, policies and processes in standards committee areas.
  • Oversee the preparation of work instructions/updates/new processes for committees and staff.
  • Manages preparation and delivery of training to staff and technical committees.
  • Oversee the formatting and publication of standards
  • Manages inventory of physical products.
  • Supports staff with administration tasks related to standards development.
  • Maintains information and updates on the AMPP website.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out manager responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals and feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

10 to 15% travel is expected for this role and passport is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 3to 5 years' experience leading teams of employees and/or volunteer committees
  • Experience in organizing and prioritizing projects required.
  • Direct experience with a standards development organization, technical association, ISO, or ANSI Essential Requirements is required



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Good oral, written, and communication skills are required. Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Good English grammar and spelling skills required. Above average ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively on the telephone. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, employees of the organization, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to develop and interpret business graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Demonstrated personnel management skills including, but not limited to, the ability to evaluate staff performance and provide direction, is highly desirable. Ability to work in a multi task environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and subordinate staff. Requires advanced computer skills including knowledge of computerized business management tools, word processing, spreadsheet software, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate the association goals with members one on one or in large settings (public speaking). Requires creative, detail oriented individual with ability to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously.
