Researches, supports and troubleshoots field application software. Modifies, adapts and implements technology solutions to meet field application needs, e.g. meter reading, electronic service orders, asset management and GIS systems. Activities include reviewing system requirements and business processes: coding, testing, debugging, implementing and documenting applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Primary Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Provides application support and planning in the areas of fact-finding, installation, testing and follow-up for the development of new and upgraded field application software.
  • Maintains, supports and troubleshoots field operations applications including meter reading, electronic service orders, asset management and GIS.
  • Participates in the design and maintenance of meter reading application software. May prepare process maps and system diagrams as well as coding and logic specifications for developers.
  • Updates and maintains field application documentation including user manuals and program descriptions. Ensures all documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects program changes, modifications, software elevations, etc. Develops documentation and other materials for users to assist with installation, maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Trains users on all aspects of the software. Responds to questions, providing advice and guidance as needed on the applications.
  • Resolves applications issues within service level agreements. Responds to service desk tickets. Contacts users as needed to understand the issue and collect additional details if needed. Investigates issues using Query CIS and service order systems to identify and correct the root cause. Runs reports as needed to monitor issues.
  • Designs and delivers ad hoc reports and associated metrics on system issues to IT management.
  • Performs miscellaneous operational duties as needed (i.e. Reports, queries, helpdesk requests).

QUALIFICATIONS (Required Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications)

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology / Computer Science / Business Management or an Associate's degree with equivalent work-related experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years related application support experience which would include exposure to creating SQL scripts
  • A minimum of 4 years SQL database experience preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years Help Desk experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • Occasional project-related travel is required.
