Under close supervision of the Vivarium Operations Supervisor, the Assistant Animal Technician performs routine animal husbandry tasks. Duties include the cleaning, feeding, and watering of laboratory animals; the cleaning of cages/enclosures and related ancillary equipment; and the maintenance of animal care areas.
The Assistant Animal Technician supports the health and welfare of laboratory animals by performing routine animal husbandry tasks. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and humane research environment through daily care duties including feeding, watering, cage cleaning, sanitation, and animal observation. The technician also assists with receiving new animals, monitoring for abnormalities, and performing euthanasia procedures as directed. This position requires strict adherence to established protocols and biosafety practices, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a research setting. The full salary range for the Assistant Animal Tech position is $41,864.40 - $52,074.72 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
