IT Intern, Project Management - PMO

Job Overview

This position will provide valuable project management support for the IT organization which is responsible for delivering outstanding solutions for BDF. Support in this area will allow our current workforce to pursue more advanced projects by increasing the workforce, albeit temporarily. This intern role will provide fresh project management and other technology skills, dedicated support and potential future talent to the organization. In return for the intern, it will provide the ability to observe and participate in real time projects in action while learning about the development of efficient workflows.

This is a hybrid role where on-site presence in our Manchester, CT offices is required each week.

Core Competencies & Expertise

• The project management intern, under the supervision of PMO, will ensure a smooth transition of awarded projects from the business to the PMO team.
• This individual will assist the project manager to further ensure project requirements, standards, and documentation are followed.
• This intern will assist in confirming and updating scope, schedule, and monitor changes to projects with the aim of building experience and skills around project management.
• This role will require collaboration with IT teams on the portfolio reports to ensure data quality for our IT Portfolio Dashboard.
  

Preferred Competencies & Skills

• Proficient in MS Office and knowledge of Teams.
• Experience or understanding of project planning tools (Asana, Jira, Daptiv).
• Great verbal and written communication skills, and good organizational skills.
• Overall knowledge and interest in Information Technology.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program, or recent graduate
• Passion for learning and not being afraid to ask questions.
• Ability to work both independently and in a cooperative team environment to motivate people and teams to achieve goals.
• Experience with or exposure to program and project management methodologies, such as agile and waterfall, and hybrid approaches, to determine which way of working is best for each project.
• Knowledge of project management fundamentals.
• Must be able to collaborate with various areas of the business and possess the ability to work independently on action items resulting from various meetings and process improvement strategies.
