The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for supervising a payroll team and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for McLane teammates. Resolve problems to facilitate timely disbursements and accurate distribution of accounts. This position will require the candidate to report and work from the office five days a week. Essential Job Functions/Principal Accountabilities:
- Supervise payroll staff to provide accurate and timely payroll processing and resolution of payroll issues.
- Maintain functional procedures and establish/monitor high standards of performance for each activity.
- Design and direct implementation of the system and process improvements to promote efficiencies in department and field locations.
- Perform all system processes with PeopleSoft to control processing, reporting and scheduling within the systems while utilizing the system effectively.
- Make decisions regarding enforcement and interpretation of policies and procedures as they relate to payroll.
- Act as a liaison or point person with the People Department and other Business Units, in handling special transactions. Research questions from planning, operations, accounting, and the field related to payroll expense in the general ledger.
- Evaluate the payroll department coordinators' individual performance and aid them in maximizing their full potential while maintaining high standards.
- Manage the short-term disability payments to all Teammates.
- Establish and monitor executive compensation including but not limited to, deferred compensation and car allowance.
- Perform other tasks or special projects as necessary.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred.
- Minimum of at least 18 months' Workday experience.
- Five or more years of payroll and accounting experience.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- High level of customer service orientation, excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to project self-confidence in dealing with others.
- Must be adaptable, flexible and able to implement change quickly, accurately, and effectively.
- Knowledge of federal and state wage and hour regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to motivate, train, and provide ongoing coaching to the team.
