Overview

Johnson County Government is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join our Children's Services Program. The Clinician will work as part of a treatment team and provide clinical services to individuals with severe mental illness, including mood disorders. The focus is on recovery, primarily using the Strengths Based Model of practice. First review of applications will be April 28th, 2025 and will stay open until the role is filled.

Johnson County Mental Health is hiring a licensed Master's Level Clinician to work in their Children & Family Services program, providing clinical services to youth, ages 3-18, who have been diagnosed with severe emotional disabilities (SED) and their families. Along with other clinician responsibilities, this position will collaborate with the DeSoto Mental Health Intervention Team school liaison to identify and connect youth to appropriate mental health services, and eliminate barriers to receiving mental health services, with the goal of maintaining severely emotionally disturbed youth in the most natural, least restrictive setting possible. Services will primarily take place in the Mission office with some clinical services being provided in DeSoto School District buildings.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments during intake, ongoing services, and crisis intervention.
  • Develop and implement complex treatment and intervention plans.
  • Provide psychotherapy and other therapeutic services to individuals, groups, and families.
  • Complete and submit clinical documentation, evaluating and documenting progress.
  • Serve as the clinical expert on the treatment team, providing consultation and crisis intervention support and serving as the back-up to the Team Leader.


Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other Human Services field.

Kansas Behavioral Sciences licensure at the master's level in the area of focus.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

Kansas Behavioral Sciences license at the clinical level; licensed as a Masters or Clinical Addiction Counselor by the Behavioral Health Sciences Regulatory Board with the State of Kansas, experience in a community health setting.

Working Conditions:

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
