Temporary Lecturer - Institute of Transportation Studies - AY25-26

Temporary positions are anticipated for lecturers in the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) under the umbrella of the Civil and Environment Engineering Department. A list of courses that may be available during 2025-2026 academic year is attached. An updated list is available on the department website at https://catalog.ucdavis.edu/courses-subject-code/ttp/. Courses will be conducted in person on the main UC Davis Campus in Davis, CA.

Appointment Date: Several appointments may be made each year. A selected candidate may be assigned only one course in any quarter.

Service dates are:

• Fall Quarter 2025: September 22, 2025 - December 12, 2025
• Winter Quarter 2026: January 2, 2026 - March 20, 2026
• Spring Quarter 2026: March 26, 2025 - June 11, 2026

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach one or more lectures and/or laboratory courses in ITS during the academic year.

TTP 223 - Behavioral Theories and Applications

• This course examines theories of behavior and their application to understanding travel behavior. Theories of behavior draw on economics, psychology, and sociology to provide a foundation for research in individual decision-making. Theoretical approaches covered in this course include utility maximization, behavioral economics, heuristics, planned behavior, social networks, stages of change, and others.

Minimum professional degree requirement is a Master's, in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or extensive university-level/higher education teaching experience in a relevant area; although exceptions may be made for exceptional candidates with strong and relevant experience in both practice and teaching.

• Evidence of teaching excellence or potential for excellence, and a commitment to quality undergraduate education.

As a condition of employment, the finalist will be required to disclose if they are subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct, are currently being investigated for misconduct, left a position during an investigation for alleged misconduct, or have filed an appeal with a previous employer.
