Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Director - Cloud & Databricks.

In this role, the highly skilled and experienced Director will lead a small, dynamic team responsible for maintaining and enhancing our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This individual will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the EDW, ensuring data accuracy, performance, and security while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Oracle, Informatica PowerCenter, and experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks. This is a leadership role that requires both technical expertise and the ability to manage and mentor a small, high-performing team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the enterprise data warehouse.
    • Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement, quality assurance, and performance optimization.
    • Set clear goals, provide regular performance feedback, and ensure the team has the necessary resources and training to excel.
  • Data Warehouse Maintenance & Optimization:
    • Oversee the architecture, design, and maintenance of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, ensuring it meets the needs of the business.
    • Optimize database performance, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of the data warehouse.
    • Manage the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, particularly using Informatica PowerCenter.
    • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve data integrity, performance, and system issues.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business analysts, and IT teams, to ensure data architecture aligns with business needs.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert in data warehouse solutions and provide guidance to leadership on best practices for managing large-scale data systems.
    • Communicate regularly with business stakeholders to ensure the data warehouse meets evolving business requirements and strategic goals.
  • Cloud Integration & Innovation:
    • Organize and plan for migrating the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to Databricks on Microsoft Azure.
    • Leverage cloud-based technologies, such as Databricks, to drive innovative solutions and improve data processing and storage capabilities.
    • Support the transition of relevant workloads to cloud platforms, ensuring smooth integration with existing data infrastructure.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in cloud data management and introduce appropriate technologies into the data strategy.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a o 8+ years of experience in data management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or director-level role managing data warehouse teams.
o Extensive experience with Oracle databases and Informatica PowerCenter for ETL processes.
o Hands-on experience working with cloud-based data platforms, especially Databricks (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
o Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and performance tuning techniques.
o Proven experience in managing and maintaining large-scale enterprise data systems.
o Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on team development.
o Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data-related issues.
o Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
o In-depth knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, ETL processes, and data governance best practices.
o Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and data solutions, especially in an enterprise setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with additional cloud services (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Familiarity with advanced data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.39 - $229,367.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
