To learn more about our brands visit www.apog.com Position Summary This position will focus primarily on State income and sales/use tax compliance matters. The position will require interaction with the corporate tax group as well as Business Unit personnel and with state taxing authorities. The Tax Analyst will assist with the preparation of Federal and State income tax returns as well as State and Local Sales/Use tax returns, and will report to the Senior Director of Tax. Key Responsibilities: State and Local Income Taxes
- Primarily responsible for the preparation of the Company's separate company state and city income tax returns and annual reports.
- Communicate with State agencies regarding income tax notices - both oral and written communications.
- Assist with the analysis and preparation of quarterly state income tax payments.
- Perform research and planning tasks in order to legally minimize taxes.
State and Local Sales/Use Taxes
- Review of Sales/Use tax returns and payment requests
- Oversight of exemption certificate retention
- Partner with others and support the integration of Vertex into SAP
Federal Income Taxes
- Assist with the preparation of the Federal consolidated income tax return.
- Primarily responsible for annual fixed asset reconciliations for tax purposes.
- Assist with research and planning tasks in order to legally minimize taxes.
- Communicate with Business Units to receive information in a complete and timely manner.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Provide occasional back-up services to the Treasury Cash Desk.
- Primarily responsible for the completion of Census Bureau surveys.
Education and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred, or Two-year degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience, including corporate income tax experience.
- Excellent organization skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with business team members and/or state taxing authorities.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications
- Experience with large corporate compliance software, preferably Corptax.
- Experience with Vertex, especially if integrated with SAP
Work Environment & Travel Requirements
- We work in a hybrid format, on-site at the Bloomington, MN HQ building three days per week.
- Travel anticipated approximately ~5%. The ability to travel for collaboration, or participation in process-improvement and Company-wide events may be required but will be infrequent.
