Brief summary of purpose:

Serves as the subject matter expert for leave programs, processes and manages the leave program in partnership with the Fallon third party leave administrator; working closely with Human Resources Business Partners.

Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits. Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Leave of Absence Administration

    Using their knowledge of Federal and State leave laws including standard leave concepts, practices and procedures manage Family Medical, State Mandated Leave and Personal Leave cases and process with third party vendor
  • Vendor management of third party vendor with the processing of leaves and disability; to adhere to Federal and State laws.
  • Adhere to legal complexities and the interaction with other programs and various laws
  • Participate in developing and presenting leave of absence trainings

Worker's Compensation Administration

  • Possess the knowledge of workers compensation law in multiple states
  • Responsible for reporting workers compensation injuries to the workers compensation carrier
  • Work with workers compensation carrier on investigation of claims when needed
  • Compile, file and maintain regulatory reports such as OSHA 101 and OSHA 300 logs
  • Safety Committee Member

ADA Accommodations Administration

  • Using their knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and understanding of the practices and activities covered by the employment nondiscrimination requirements of ADA ensure and promote adherence to the legal complexities and policies governing the interactive process
  • Facilitate with the third party ADA administrator in the Interactive Process, including working with employees and supervisors to help determine effective accommodations as needed.
  • Coordinates worksite ergonomic assessments and the purchasing of equipment as needed


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent in education and experience

Experience:

  • 4-7 years of progressive and relevant HR experience in benefits, workers compensation and ADA.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of leave of absence administration preferred
  • Knowledge of employee benefit and leave laws (FMLA, ADA, workers compensation, MAPFML, NY DBL/PFL), including HR best practices, and recordkeeping compliance
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally, to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and staff.
  • Strong organization skills and up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations. Should also have strong interpersonal skills, be able to maintain meticulous records, and collaborate with other departments and external service providers.
