Journeyman Electrical Engineer

DCS Corporation
United States, Ohio, Dayton
Apr 18, 2025

As a Journeyman Electrical Engineer, you'll join the crossfunctional team turning Phalanx Griffon (PG) from digital design into flightready hardware for Major Release 2 (FY 2527). You'll focus on power distribution, wiring harnesses, interfacecontrol documentation, and EMI/EMC compliance for the Nomad openarchitecture chassis-supporting lab builds, environmental tests, and aircraft installation.

Essential Job Functions:

* Hardware Integration & Schematics

* Develop and update wiring diagrams, pinouts, and cable assemblies for Nomad processing cards, crypto devices, and SATCOM interfaces.

* Calculate load analyses and circuit protection to meet platform SWaPC and MILSTD704/1275 powerquality requirements.

* Lab & Bench Support

* Assemble and troubleshoot PG linereplaceable units in the Integration SIL; perform continuity checks, poweron verification, and firmware updates.

* Instrument test setups (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers) and document results for designtotest traceability.

* Environmental & EMI/EMC Preparation

* Assist senior engineers in vibration, thermal, and EMI/EMC prequalification tests (MILSTD810/461); capture redlines and support corrective actions.

* Documentation & Configuration Control

* Maintain interfacecontrol documents (ICDs), bills of material (BOM), and partnumber trees inside the government digitalengineering environment (CAMEO/SysML, Windchill).

* Generate test procedures, validation reports, and engineeringchange packages for flighttest readiness.

* CrossTeam Collaboration

* Work alongside Systems, Software, and Test IPTs to resolve integration issues quickly and feed lessons learned into subsequent Product Delivery Orders (PDOs).

* Coordinate with platform SPOs/OEMs on connector standards, grounding schemes, and aircraft powerbus impacts.

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

B.S. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or related discipline) plus 3-7 years of handson hardware design, integration, or test for avionics, C4ISR, or ruggedized military electronics.

Active TS/SCI clearance.

Familiarity with MILSTD704/1275 power, MILSTD461 EMI/EMC, and aerospace wiring best practices (38999/26482, AS50881).

Experience reading/modifying schematics and using ECAD tools (Altium, OrCAD, or similar).

Comfortable with lab instrumentation and fault isolation techniques.

Desired Skills:

Prior work on airborne networking, SATCOM, crypto, or crossdomain hardware.

Exposure to ModelBased Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digitalthread environments.

Experience supporting configuration audits, RMF hardware artifacts, or safetyofflight packages.

IPC/WHMA620 or NASASTD8739 wireharness certification.
