HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be joining a highly capable, multi-discipline team that supports power and energy projects within the industrial, institutional, municipal, IPP and utility power and energy industry. The Senior Project Manager will be a seller-doer who grows existing and new client relationships, brings in projects, develops strategies and plans for performing the work, monitors and communicates status of the project, and leads multi-discipline project teams to successful completion of the work. This role requires significant client interaction (from pre-positioning for the work through project completion) and strong verbal and written communication skills as needed for regular interaction with internal staff such as project team members, marketing and business development staff, and operations leadership. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with both utility scale power generation systems and equipment as well as exposure with emerging market trends, including distributed generation and combined heat and power technologies and projects, as well as proven ability to plan, schedule, and lead complex design and consulting assignments. Prior experience working with data center clients is desired as well as serving as an interface between the data center and utility clients. Specific responsibilities include:
- Participating in strategic planning activities.
- Working with internal market leaders and client leaders to identify/target clients and projects resulting in expansion of the business in the area.
- Establishing the primary Power Generation relationship with a targeted list of local, strategic clients who are important for the growth of the power generation program. This includes leveraging experience and personal networks to work with clients to create opportunities to deliver a variety of HDR services including consulting, detailed design, owners engineering, permitting, siting, right-of-way, environmental and planning. Recognize other HDR services and activities outside of core development services that would benefit clients.
- Partnering with Client Managers and business development leaders to grow the practice through client activities and marketing. Participate in development of strong client relationships and serve as a Client Manager for select clients.
- Growing the size and capabilities of the local team through recruitment, mentoring, staff development, staff retention, work-sharing, and training. Supervising and managing team members.
- Championing pursuit efforts for a wide range of opportunities. Develop and/or review proposals including scope, cost estimates, schedules, work plans and staffing.
- Serving as a project manager. Facilitating teamwork, communication, and work-sharing between HDR offices and business groups. Delivering projects profitability and in compliance with contractual requirements and schedules.
- Participating in business and community activities as a representative of HDR.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- PMP certification
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 10 years related experience
- A minimum 5 years project management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
- MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus)
- Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
