Job Title: Medical Admin / Health Information Technician

Duration: 12+ Months (possible extension)

Location: 1990 Harmon Avenue Columbus OH 43223


Hours/Week: 40hrs

Shift Timings: (6:30am-2:30pm)

Must have:

  • Medical admin experience.
  • Medical records experience.
  • Microsoft excel.
  • CPR/BLS.


Job Description:

  • HIT's perform routine administrative tasks to keep the offices of physicians, health practitioners and nursing floors running smoothly.
  • The duties of Health Information Techs may vary from setting to setting and unit to unit depending on the size, location, and type.
  • In addition to administrative duties, HIT's may be asked to cover units that are short staffed.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Answering the phone and taking verbal orders over the phone
  • Ordering supplies from suppliers and maintaining an inventory of items in storage
  • Ensuring that proper equipment is available for patient care, such as wheelchairs, crutches, canes, and braces
  • Identifying and responding to issues with equipment functionality or supply inventory levels
  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Unpack and check supplies upon receipt and report discrepancies in orders
  • Perform Cycle Counting as needed
  • Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations
  • Retrieve requisitions from the Materials Management electronic supply system, fill orders, and delivers to the requesting department
  • Pack supplies that need to be returned or sent out
  • Ensures that return labels are correct.
  • Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient, notifies the Purchasing Agent to order more materials when necessary
  • Rotates stock using the First In First Out rule to help
  • Remove, document and package all expired items.
  • Maintain an approachable customer service attitude.
  • Issue inventory and maintain records for each PAR location.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and replenishing stock as needed.
  • Developing and implementing inventory control systems and practices.
  • Liaising and negotiating with vendors and suppliers to ensure the quality of stock purchases.
  • Coordinating the logistics of purchase orders, stock transfers, deliveries, tagging, and processing.
  • Forecasting supply and demand requirements to ensure stock availability.
  • Tracking inbound and outbound orders to prevent overstocking and out-of-stock (OOS).
  • Analyzing and reviewing supply chain data to identify and resolve issues.
  • Generating purchase and pricing reports, supply chain analysis, and inventory management systems.
  • Performing regular stock checks and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintaining and updating records of purchase orders, pricing reports, and inventory records.
