Ignite Digital Services is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that integrate data from disparate sources within GovCloud and Jupiter (Advana) environments. This critical role ensures hybrid fleet data is accessible, secure, and efficiently delivered for analysis and machine learning applications.

Responsibilities:

Data Pipeline Development:



  • Implement data pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data in AWS GovCloud and Jupiter (Advana)
  • Develop automated data management solutions using Databricks/Spark or Apache NiFi and Kafka
  • Write automation and data manipulation scripts using Python, HIVE, SQL, and relevant languages


Data Processing:



  • Apply best practices for data cleaning, transformation, and ingestion tailored specifically for machine learning applications
  • Manipulate and prepare large datasets for analysis and connectivity identification
  • Implement and manage data warehousing systems


Security & Compliance:



  • Comply with data classification and handling requirements across various impact levels
  • Implement and maintain security best practices to protect sensitive information
  • Develop secure code with robust error handling and vulnerability mitigation.


Collaboration & Support:



  • Assist stakeholders in identifying, curating, and managing data assets
  • Contribute to developing data management standards, requirements, and specifications
  • Facilitate effective data compilation, cataloging, caching, distribution, and retrieval


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Significant experience in data engineering, data pipeline development, and database management
  • Proficiency in Python programming and SQL query language
  • Strong understanding of database concepts including relationships, primary keys, and foreign keys
  • Familiarity with APIs such as JDBC and capability for standardized data format conversions.


Desired Qualifications:



  • Hands-on experience with Jupiter/Advana platforms
  • Database design expertise
  • Knowledge of common marine domain awareness data structures (CoT, .JSON, .XML)
  • Familiarity with MISB standards


Salary: 95k+ to align with education and experience

Schedule: onsite M-F in Charleston, SC

Travel:This position may require up to 20% travel for on-site data integration, system setup, training sessions, and troubleshooting tasks.
