Definition:

Lead the financial operations of the real estate and resort destination hotel portfolio. This Corporate Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and internal controls.

General Duties:

Financial Management & Reporting:



  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities, including real estate holdings and hospitality operations.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage intercompany transactions, and ensure appropriate capitalization of assets and expenses.


Accounting Operations:



  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, and tax compliance.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Supervise the accounting team and provide mentorship and professional development.


Budgeting & Forecasting:



  • Partner with department heads and property managers to prepare annual budgets and forecasts for both real estate developments and resort operations.
  • Analyze variances, monitor financial performance, and identify risks and opportunities.


Compliance & Risk Management:



  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements, including sales tax, property tax, and hospitality-specific regulations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and implement improvements as needed.


Strategic Initiatives:



  • Support financial due diligence for acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support capital investment decisions, joint ventures, and financing arrangements.
  • Contribute to ERP system implementations and finance process automation.


Employment Standards:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Background in real estate development/investment and hospitality/hotel operations is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, multi-entity consolidations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with property management systems (PMS) and ERP systems (e.g., M3, ProfitSword, Birchstreet, etc.).
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge of both the real estate and hospitality industries with experience managing complex financial structures, multi-entity consolidations, and property-level accounting.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple ongoing projects.


Preferred Skills:



  • Familiarity with resort management operations, including F&B, spa, golf, tennis, marina, and events.
  • Experience with REIT structures or joint venture accounting.
  • Knowledge of capital project accounting and developer fee structures.

  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures, and report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately to the manager.
  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and environmentally responsible work environment. Must have a neat and professional overall appearance.
  • Must be able to interact with co-workers and have a sense of TEAM.
