Job description

Join our team as an Outside Plant (OSP) Field Technician, where you'll play a crucial role in infrastructure deployment and maintenance projects.

Responsibilities:

Install utility poles and mount license plate reader (LPR) systems.

Read and accurately interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and site plans.

Conduct detailed field walkouts and document existing infrastructure accurately.

Operate excavation equipment, including mini-excavators, trenchers, and related machinery.

Assist with conduit installation, fiber optic cable placement, splicing support, and basic fiber testing.

Work safely and effectively outdoors, in varying weather conditions and diverse terrain.

Adhere strictly to safety protocols and maintain precise and timely job site records.

Coordinate proactively with internal teams and supervisors to ensure successful project completion.

Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Outside Plant (OSP), utility fieldwork, or related roles.

Demonstrated comfort and ability to work outdoors year-round.

Proven experience reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.

Hands-on experience with utility pole installations and proficient use of power and hand tools.

Experience operating excavation and heavy machinery (mini-excavator, trencher, skid steer, etc.).

Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.

Clean driving record with no major infractions.

Flexibility and willingness to travel up to 50%, including overnight stays as required.

Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience installing and troubleshooting LPR systems or similar electronic equipment.

Valid CDL Class A or B, or ability and willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Basic knowledge of fiber optic cable handling, placement, and testing procedures.

OSHA 10/30 safety certification or equivalent training.

Traffic control certifications (MOT/Flagger) preferred.

First Aid/CPR certifications beneficial.

Experience:

2-3 years of prior work experience required

Experience with fast connections preferred

Familiarity with fiber, connectors, and conduit installation

Exposure to both service-side work and turn-key projects

Background as a "jack of all trades" in the OSP environment

Operator experience in fiber and splicing highly valued

Technical Skills:

Fusion Splicing

OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)

Bare Fiber Adaptor knowledge

Travel:

50% in-state travel (within Florida)

Travel as a crew

Room and board provided

Typical schedule: 8-10 hour days, 3-4 nights per week

Other Requirements:

Valid driver's license (no suspensions)

Clean criminal background
