Job Description

MISSION:
To remove soluble wax used to create appropriate cavities in patterns; to dissolve wax with acids.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Pattern Preparation
Objective: prepare patterns for removal of soluble wax by the leaching process.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Inspects pattern.
B. Seals all open chills using hot pencils.
C. Loads and unloads leaching fixtures as needed.

2. Leaching
Objective: soluble wax removal.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Operates pumping system to mix chemicals in leach tank.
B. Places patterns in leach tank for appropriate time periods.
C. Removes patterns following cycle.
D. Inspects removed pattern for residue, defects and breakage using lights, mirrors and other hand-held tools.
E. Maintains fluid levels in tanks.
F. Records pH levels of fluids.
G. Neutralizes acids for disposal.

3. Housekeeping and Storage
Objective: maintain a safe work environment, using proper storage and handling techniques for chemicals used in leaching process.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Stores chemicals using established techniques.
B. May be required to handle hazardous waste.

Other (Marginal) Job Functions:
A. Cleans work areas and equipment.
B. Cleans other areas in wax department as needed.

4. Record keeping
A. Completes logs and records of parts and tank activities.

5. Safety
Objective: take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
B. Safely operate all equipment and tools.
C. Safely handle, store and dispose of chemicals.
D. Identify and report safety problems.

6. Meets all production and quality standards.

7. Performs other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES MACHINERY AND/OR TOOLS USED:
1. Fork lift (LSBO and TBO only)
2. Hot pencil
3. Hoist
4. Pallet jack
5. Knives, clippers, pliers, mirrors, flashlights
6. Hot pencil
7. Electrical and pneumatic controlled pumping disposal system

TRAINING:
1. Training is provided on the job.
2. PCCs Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed. (LSBO and TBO only)
3. May be required to complete hazardous waste management training.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards and other special instructions.
2. Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
3. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions
