Job Summary:

The Tax Senior Project Manager, Digital Transformation & Innovation (Senior Manager) is a key leader within the BDO Tax Digital Transformation and Innovation team, focusing on managing and delivering technology development projects. The Senior Manager brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ensure the successful execution of projects from initiation to closure, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

The ideal candidate has a robust background in project management with a deep understanding of both waterfall and agile development methodologies, allowing for a flexible and effective approach to project delivery. This role requires strong leadership skills to oversee the technology product and guide the project team towards achieving project goals.

The Senior Project Manager collaborates closely with business stakeholders, DT&I product management and deployment teams, and software developers to create and implement comprehensive project plans. They will play a crucial role in assisting and guiding technology solutions that meet the needs of our clients and professionals, ensuring alignment with business objectives and driving innovation within the organization.

Job Duties:



  • Oversees the project planning and implementation of project plans of technology development projects within the Tax Digital Transformation and Innovation portfolio
  • Works closely with the Product Manager and Deployment Lead to ensure project alignment with product objectives and company goals are being met in accordance with agreed project plans
  • Utilizes a hybrid project management approach, incorporating elements of both waterfall and agile methodologies, to effectively manage project timelines, scope, and resources
  • Oversees project financials and budget to actual projections
  • Employs project management tools and software to track project progress, manage resources, and communicate status updates to stakeholders
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project objectives, timelines, and deliverables
  • Identifies and manages project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project success
  • Ensures project documentation is maintained and updated throughout the project lifecycle
  • Conducts post-project evaluations to capture learnings and improve future project management practices
  • Manages large-scale, complex projects and programs, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Conducts regular project status meetings and reviews, providing updates and reports to stakeholders
  • Facilitates effective communication among stakeholders, including clients, team members, and Tax leadership
  • Other duties as required


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Mentors and coaches junior project managers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Acts as a Career Advisor as assigned


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree, required; focus in Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Information Technology, preferred


Experience:



  • Eight (8) or more years of experience with project management, mentoring teams, and software development lifecycle, required
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience serving as a project manager, project coordinator, or similar role, with a focus on technology development projects, preferred
  • Experience working in the tax or accounting professional services industry tax, preferred
  • Experience working with multinational teams, preferred


License/Certifications:



  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified, preferred
  • Scrum Master or Agile Certified Practitioner, preferred


Software:



  • Proficient with project management tools, required

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $200,000 - $275,000
Maryland Range: $200,000 - $275,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $200,000 - $275,000
