We are seeking a Transportation Roads Condition Assessment Technician Intern for the Summer Quarter (May- September).

The Transportation Condition Assessment Technician Intern will be working alongside Woolpert professional engineers, condition assessment experts, transportation advisors and BLM staff collecting and processing survey data. Some projects could be assisting with GIS, completing transportation PASER analysis, performing aggregate depth analysis and data collection.



Responsibilities

* Working as part of the integrated Roads Condition Assessment Field team and transportation program
* Providing support and learning to plan field assessment processes with senior staff
* Working directly with client under supervision of senior management to validate schedules and plan for approval
* Gaining real-world experience collecting data in the field with licensed professional engineers and condition assessment experts
* Assisting with the collection and processing of data for the Bureau of Land Management
* based on government rate. Company credit card will be supplied for all hotels and flights.



Qualifications

* Must be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, with at least sophomore status
* Must be studying engineering, or related field
* Must be willing to work outside in the field, no matter the weather conditions or environment
* General understanding and willingness to learn various survey equipment and Trimble Business Center Software.
* Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
* Exceptional multitasking and time management skills
* Must be willing to travel when needed through the duration of the internship, as this project requires 2 weeks in the field and is part-time as needed.
* Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen prior to employment
* Able to drive GMC2500 vehicle with camper
* Ability to backdown mountain sides with limited visibility, turn vehicle around in extremely tight locations.
* Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and operate a jackhammer and use a pickaxe to core roads.
* Have no fear of heights or motion sickness due to extremely curvy and mountainous ranges.
* No fear of wilderness areas for long periods of time.
* Understanding that no cell phone use will be used during the assessment periods, as focus is required.
* Possess credit card or funds to pay for food for a two -week period as government per diem is paid back at the end of your extended stay



Posted Salary Range

USD $21.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
