Job Description

JOB DESCRPITION

The Machine Repairman works under the supervision of the Maintenance Shift Supervisor: Maintains repairs, modifies, removes, and relocates all equipment, stationary and mobile, in the manufacturing facility. Utilizes blueprints, machine drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, equipment literature, parts lists, assembly drawings, hand and power tools, and diagnostic equipment to aid their diagnosis. Analyses and repairs equipment malfunctions. As required by repair, machines parts required using the lathe, milling machine, drill press, band saw, grinder, and press.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains, repairs, overhauls, modifies, installs, and removes the machines facilities and equipment used throughout the manufacturing facility.
  2. Uses specialized precision hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment and machine tools required to complete the defined job.
  3. Proficient with vernieer calibers, micrometers and dial indicators.
  4. Confirms that the machine, tools, and equipment repaired or serviced are correctly lubricated and mechanically ready for their intended service.
  5. Fabricates new or replacement parts as required to facilitate repairs using drawings, sketches, or sample parts. Works to close tolerances, lays out own work and selects proper materials.
  6. Familiar with and capable of using normal tools of the trade as well as specialized tools diagnostic aids, meters and gages. Must read and use complex blueprints, machine drawings, operating instructions, diagrams, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, etc. during the course of work.
  7. Performs necessary housekeeping duties around work area, restores normal work place conditions at completion of repairs or servicing. Cleans excess oil, grease, and dirt from machines and equipment prior to and at completion of repairs or service.
  8. Performs other duties related to the job as directed by the Supervisor.

SKILLS/EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or Journeyman's Card

Maintenance Experience in a Manufacturing Environment

Capable of Operating Lathe, Milling Machine

Previous Machine Repairman Experience

WEIGHT LIMITATIONS:

During the normal course of performing work scope, Machine Repairman will occasionally need the following abilities.

  1. To work at heights of up to 40' from ladder, scaffolding, or man lift
  2. Lifting 75 lbs with assistance if needed
  3. Climbing on, over, and around equipment
  4. To work in tight or confined spaces
  5. To manipulate heavy loads within confines of equipment space
  6. To climb stairs, ladders, walk and stand on concrete floors
  7. Bending, stooping, kneeling, and lying down to facilitate repairs
