Job Summary
The Auburn University Bookstore is excited to recruit Cashiers for Summer and Fall 2025 Semesters! Cashiers assist the cash and sales department by assisting customers, facilitating transactions, stocking merchandise, and other duties as indicated below.

Essential Functions

  • Process transactions at the cash register.
  • Greet customers and assist them with finding the products and services they desire.
  • Engage, listen, & ask questions to understand the customer's wants/needs.
  • Have an enthusiastic attitude toward helping others.
  • Walk the sales floor regularly to monitor for loss prevention and ensure the sales floor and merchandise are clean and in order.
  • Ensure merchandise is tagged correctly, scans at the right price, and is free of damage.
  • Stock merchandise on the sales floor as needed.
  • Efficiently and accurately process customer transactions on the cash register.
  • Assist in ordering, distributing, and collecting caps and gowns for graduation each semester.
  • As needed, assist with stocking and cashier needs at satellite locations on campus.
  • Answer questions students have regarding textbooks and scholarships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled student at Auburn University


Expectations:

  • Able to work home football game days
  • Able to stand for 4 hours at a time
  • Effective communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work individually as well as cooperatively with others
  • Multitasking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail experience
  • Cash register experience


Pay Rate $10.00/hour
Work Hours 10-20 hours
