Responsibilities

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Emergency Department, you will provide high-quality care to patients with varied and complex health conditions. Working under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, you will play a crucial role in the fast-paced emergency environment. Your responsibilities will include patient assessment, performing critical interventions, and promoting high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments of patients' conditions and triage patients based on medical need and urgency.
  • Accurately monitor and record patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by physicians and/or RNs. Monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions.
  • Perform wound care, bandaging, and dressing changes as necessary.
  • Initiate and manage IV therapy as instructed by the healthcare team.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate electronic health records, documenting all aspects of patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing updates and explanations as required.
  • Assist with procedures, support families in crisis, and provide emotional support to patients and their loved ones.
  • Participate in emergency procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state license.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. IV certification upon hire (state specific).
4. Current ACLS certificate preferred or within 120 days of hire.
5. Current PALS certificate preferred or within 120 days of hire.
